After the legislation of rampur raza library act in 1975 by the parliament of india, the library was given the status of the institution of national importance with a provision of the rampur raza library board as it managing body under section 4(2) of the aforesaid . It occupied position of a governing body with his excellency, the governor of uttar pradesh as the chairman. The rampur raza library board consists of twelve competent members including one member of the descendant of the erstwhile nawab family of rampur. The other members are distinguished historians scholars of arabic, persian and urdu literature besides officials of the central and state governments collectively directing the affairs of the library.
